Curriculum

Work hard, reach for the stars and you will go far!

“For with God nothing shall be impossible” Luke 1:3

Every child matters and every voice is heard.  All children are challenged to achieve their full potential in a safe and caring Christian environment, enabling them to move on as well-rounded, confident individuals, prepared to face the future.

At Carlton VC Church of England Primary, we aim to provide a robust and ambitious curriculum for all children.   Our curriculum  has been pedagogically structured to sequence and scaffold all of the skills needed for each age range.  A rolling 2 year programme ensures that all of our classes meet the national curriculum in full and that children have the best opportunities to learn all the key skills needed to reach their best potential.

We do this because we have mixed year groups. The classes are grouped as follows:  Squirrels Class is Nursery and YR, Hedgehogs Class is Y1 & Y2 and Woodpeckers Class Y3 & 4 and Owls Class is made up of Year 5 & 6 pupils.

The school is currently on Cycle 2 of the two year rolling programme.

Cycle 1 will take effect in September 2025.

The whole school long term plan cycle 1 is linked below along with a long term plan for each individual class.   Squirrels Class is Reception and Nursery and they have a separate Long Term Plan - please click on this link below.
